Premier League clubs are on the verge of discovering their fate regarding the profitability and sustainability regulations set by the league.

Premier League clubs are on the verge of discovering their fate regarding the profitability and sustainability regulations set by the league. Today, it will be revealed whether any clubs have been charged under these regulations, with Everton and Nottingham Forest being the clubs most likely to face consequences. According to the rules, Premier League clubs are allowed to incur a maximum loss of £105m over a three-year period, equivalent to £35m per season. In November, Everton received a significant penalty of 10 points deduction, the largest in Premier League history, due to a violation of the profit and sustainability rules. However, the club has appealed against this punishment. Despite the deduction, Everton has managed to climb out of the relegation zone with a series of positive results and currently sits in 17th place, one point above Luton in the table. As for Nottingham Forest, they are also in a precarious position in the table, only three points ahead of Everton and four points above the relegation zone. Since their promotion from the Championship in 2022, Forest has spent approximately £250m on new signings. In essence, each Premier League team must ensure that their annual accounts do not show a loss exceeding £105m over the previous three seasons. Out of this amount, clubs can only lose £15m of their own money, while the remaining £90m must be guaranteed by their owners. The final verdict on the clubs' compliance with these regulations is eagerly awaited.
