Andre Onana was unable to participate in Cameroon's Africa Cup of Nations opener due to a disrupted travel plan

Andre Onana was unable to participate in Cameroon's Africa Cup of Nations opener due to a disrupted travel plan. After playing for Manchester United in their match against Tottenham, Onana boarded a private jet to travel to the Ivory Coast where the tournament is being held. However, bad weather caused his jet to be stranded in Abidjan, approximately 150 miles away from the intended destination of Yamoussoukro. As a result, Onana had to make a three-hour car journey to the stadium. Despite his efforts, he was not included in the starting lineup against Guinea, with Nimes goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa taking his place. Onana had previously reached an agreement with the Cameroonian FA to remain with Manchester United until January 14, in order to secure his position as the first-choice goalkeeper. Altay Bayindir is now expected to serve as the substitute goalkeeper following his transfer from Fenerbahce. Despite facing some challenges since joining Manchester United, Onana has received support from coach Erik ten Hag.
